# Email notifications

> The twelve automated emails Shopjar sends — and how to customize each.

Shopjar sends automated emails on both sides of the program. Each has
an on/off toggle and a full template editor — find them under
**Referral → Emails** and **Affiliate → Emails**.

## Referral emails (5)

| Email                | Sent when                          | Default subject                                            |

| Invitation email     | A referrer invites a friend        | You've got a gift                                          |
| Friend reward claim  | A friend claims their reward       | You've claimed your referral reward                        |
| Welcome email        | Someone joins the referral program | Get 10% off your next purchase and help a friend save too! |
| Referrer reward      | A referrer earns a reward          | You have earned a reward for successful referral           |
| Admin: referral sale | A referral drives an order         | You've made a successful sale!                             |

The invitation email can **include the coupon code** directly, so the
friend's reward is one tap away.

## Affiliate emails (7)

| Commission redeemed as coupon | An affiliate converts balance to a coupon |

## Customizing a template

Each editor has **Edit / Preview** tabs and a Live/Draft status, with
sections for the **Image**, **Subject**, **Title**, **Message**,
**Button** (text, URL, colors), and **Footer**.

Templates support shortcodes — the editor lists what's available per
email. Highlights: `{{referrer_name}}`, `{{friend_name}}`,
`{{affiliate_name}}`, `{{referral_url}}`, `{{referral_code}}`,
`{{coupon_code}}`, `{{coupon_expiry_date}}`, `{{paid_amount}}`,
`{{order_value}}`, `{{affiliate_dashboard_url}}`, `{{store_name}}`,
and `{{store_url}}`.

<Tip>
  Point the reward email's **Button Url** at
  `https://yourstore.com/discount/{{coupon_code}}` — one click applies
  the coupon and lands the member in your store, no copy-paste.

<Note>
  New stores have email sending limited to **10 per day** until
  verified — a short anti-spam measure. Book a quick verification call
  (via the help footer below) to unlock full sending.

## Use cases & examples

    them off once you're checking the dashboard daily instead.
