# How the Shopjar referral program works:

Our referral program runs when an existing customer/referrer logs into the referral landing page using their email. They will receive a referral link to share with their friends and family. \
\
Additionally, they can send email invitations to the referee or new customer. The new customer/referee will use the link to be redirected to our referral program reward claim popup. Here, they will enter their email address to claim the coupon code and make a purchase. \
\
If the new customer successfully orders, the existing customer will receive a reward coupon code for their next order. This will be sent via email or available on their referral dashboard.

Please note that our Shopjar referral program operates with coupon codes. \
\
The referral landing page and reward claim popup are mandatory options to accurately track the referrer or existing customer.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.shopjar.co/faq/how-the-shopjar-referral-program-works.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
